The historical dimension of Jesus’ life is deeply connected to different places and locations of the Holy Land. Today such locations, archaeological areas and historical buildings testify the origins of Christianity.
Getting to know Jerusalem, together with other locations mentioned in the Gospels, is the key to directly understand events, historical problems and the religious phenomena: places and locations become the starting point to deal with greater issues.
Historical sources and devotional texts provide information and, at the same time, outline open hypothesis, interpretative questions and methodological perspectives. The roots of Christianity are a central topic of the contemporary debate in Religious Studies. For this reason, scientific knowledge in this regard is both necessary and emotional.
The programme “On the footsteps of Jesus” is focused on locations, archaeological excavations, finds, texts and documents.
Historical and contemporary places of pilgrimage are also introduced and analysed.
Updated researches carried out in archaeological areas will be described and discussed.
Excavations and discoveries in Magdala will play a special role: the entire city of the 1st century CE reveals many aspects of life at the time of Jesus.
The programme is delivered through blended learning and addressed to scholars in History, Archaeology, Religious Studies, Architecture, as well as professionals engaged in cultural heritage enhancement.
