CAMPUS

The European University of Rome has built its campus according to a modern architectural criteria, without barriers, with lots of space to live and share: study areas, library, leisure areas, cafeteria, classrooms available for students even when there are no lectures. A campus to be lived throughout the day. The teaching and administrative staff are always available to provide fast answers and avoid unnecessary queuing.

The University is equipped with plenty of free parking areas and easy to reach by public transport (10 minutes train from the Stazione di San Pietro). Furthermore, fast and free WiFi is available everywhere. Security and control are an important point in the University’s management; a dedicated surveillance service is available 24h a day.

Medical Insurance

It is mandatory for all international students to have an insurance policy covering medical care and third party liability. It is advisable for them to obtein it in their home country since these policies are very expensive in Italy. For students from countries which are members of the European Union, some medical costs are generally covered by their national health service (do not forget to bring your E128!).

Request a letter written in English to the insurance company, certifying that you made a contract with them. It should have an identification and a complete description of everything that is included. Please don’t forget to send it to our International Relations Office.

If you suffer from a chronic disease or for any other reason you have to regularly visit a doctor, we recommend you, for your own safety, to highlight this in your application.

Please note that the “Current health certificate” is a different document, issued by your own doctor that highlights if in the last six month before the mobility you suffered (or not) any contagious illness and if you have (or not) any special needs.

International student programme

For international students who study outside the European Union the main option is to take advantage of our International Student Programme by the enforcement of a previous agreement between your University and the Università Europea di Roma (UER). The eligibility to participate is determined first by your University, so we encourage you to visit your university’s International Office before starting any process. International students could be charged with additional fees.

If there is no agreement between your University and the Università Europea di Roma (UER), you (European or non-European student) could apply at the UER in order to attend some single courses of your choice, paying a fee for each course.

In any case, at the end of the period of study you will receive a transcript of records for the passed exams.

Enrollment procedure and visa information for non-European students

In addition to all the documents indicated in the next paragraph “Registration Requirements”, your application must include:

  1. International students programme application form;
  2. Motivation letter (max. 800 words);
  3. One copy of the page of your passport showing your first name, last name and nationality;

IN FURTHER ADDITION, ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHOSE UNIVERSITY DOES NOT HAVE ANY EXCHANGE AGREEMENT WITH THE UER:

  2. A reference letter written in English or Italian.

An official translation into English must be provided for any document which is not in English or Italian.

Please note the following requirements to attend UER International student programme:

  1. Passports must be valid for at least 3 months after planned departure from the country. Passport applications can take multiple months, so students are encouraged to apply for a passport (if they do not already have one) as soon as possible.
  2. A student visa is usually required for students that study in Italy for 90 days or more. Those with Italian/EU citizenship are exempted. Non-European Union nationals should consult their local Consulate for details on student visa requirements.
  3. Permit to Stay (Permesso di Soggiorno) is required for all students studying in Italy for 90 days or more (completed after recieving student visa).

The International Relations Office will help each student during his/her process to obtain a student visa by giving him/her: the acceptance letter and, under student request, the address of the accommodation that he/she chose for the period of the programme. However, all the processes with the Italian Consulate or Embassy have to be done directly by the student, taking in consideration that it could take up to 3 months to obtain the requested visa.

Erasmus programme

To take advantage of the Erasmus Programme, there must be a previous agreement between your University and the Università Europea di Roma (UER).

The eligibility to participate is determined first by your University, so we encourage you to visit your International Office before starting any process.

Grading system

The academic credit system adopted by Italian universities is based on “CFU” (acronym for “Crediti Formativi Universitari”). A CFU corresponds to 25 hours of work per student, including time for personal study. For each course, the student gains a determined number of CFU. Università Europea di Roma recognizes the equivalence 1 CFU = 1 ECT and adopts an ECTS mark conversion scale:

UER Grades ECTS Grades Decimal Grades
30 e lode/30 A+/A 10
29/27 B+/B- 9
26/25 C+/C 8
24/23 D+/D 7
22/18 E+/E- 6/5

ItalianTo all the incoming students that aim to study in Italian, we recommend to have a B2 Italian knowledge level. We require them to certificate, at least, a B1 Italian language level, but in this case, attending the Italian language course offered by the UER would be compulsory. Apart from learning linguistic aspects of the language, you will also discover the Italian culture.

There are 2 levels (beginners & advanced). It is held twice a week, from October to December and from February to May. The course will be recognized with 6 ECTS (for one semester).  At the beginning of each semester the student will take a placement test.
