Recognition of foreign qualifications

In accordance with the national Law n.148 of 11 July, 2002: “Ratification and execution of the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region, completed in Lisbon, 11 April, 1997, and regulations for adaptation in national law” it is possible to request the recognition of a foreign qualification.

For the recognition of a foreign qualification concerning legally “regulated” professions, please refer to the Assistance centre for recognition of professional qualifications. For further information, please visit the following link.

For the recognition of a foreign qualification concerning legally “non- regulated” professions by Università Europea di Roma, please follow the procedure specified below:

1.  If your diploma was issued in one of the 55 countries that are signatories to the Lisbon Recognition Convention (ARDI), you will need to submit a ARDI Statement of Correspondence and a Statement of Verification. Request them on this website.

If your diploma was issued in a country other than these 55 (ARDI), you will need to submit a Statement of Verification and a Statement of Comparability. Request them on this website.

If your diploma was issued in a University from the Regnum Christi International Universities (RIU) network, you can skip this step.

Please note that the Declaration of Value by a diplomatic/consular mission or the official translation of the study qualification does not replace the “Statement of Verification”. CIMEA does not provide information by telephone, by appointment or in any manner other than through its Diplome portal.

2. Send the following documents to the International Relations Office of Università Europea di Roma (francesca.chiriani@unier.it):

  • “Statement of Verification” of your foreign qualification + ARDI Statement of Correspondence or Statement of Comparability (see point 1);
  • Copy of your foreign qualification;
  • Transcript of Records and programmes of the courses passed at your foreign university;
  • Photocopy of valid Passport or ID Card.

3. Pay the foreign qualification recognition fee (250 euro) in order to initiate the administrative procedure of recognition. Please note that the payment of the fee does not guarantee the recognition of the qualification, but gives access to the administrative procedure. The competent Academic Body will then valuate your qualification:

  • If the academic contents of your foreign qualification completely match the academic contents of one of UER degrees, your foreign qualification will be recognised by UER.
  • Most probably, the academic contents of your foreign qualification will not completely match the academic contents of one of UER degrees. In that case, you will be able to enrol in one of our degrees having part of the credits of your foreign qualification recognised. You would still need to enrol at UER by following the process for international students and take the integrative courses to obtain the UER degree. The recognition fee (250 euro) will be deducted from the degree tuition fee.
